Standing Together Through Fire and Rain

Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016

Bastrop Convention Center

AsleepAtTheWheel bandpicStandingTogether LOGOPlease join us for “Standing Together Through Fire and Rain,” a BCLTRT Benefit Concert featuring country music favorites Asleep at the Wheel, celebrating the music of Bob Wills and hisTexas Playboys, on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 in Bastrop. The come and go event includes dinner by Baxters, dancing and a cash bar. Haybale with Dallas Wayne will also perform.

Bastrop County has seen four major disasters in the past five years – the 2011 wildfire, the May/June flooding with tornadoes, and all in October, the Hidden Pines Fire culminating with the two massive back-to-back floods. Three of these have some state and federal assistance available, but it’s not enough to get the families, some of whom have lived through the upheaval of more than one of the events, back to a pre-disaster state.

This affects everyone in the community, emotionally and financially, not just the families directly impacted. As people have to move away, it means less property taxes and therefore decreasing services, fewer students in class which means less money to educate our children, and fewer people mean lower sales to local business owners who are also raising their families in the community. The ripples are many in every aspect of our lives – far reaching and long-lasting. You can help.

Come out and enjoy the evening to help your community recover. Event will be held centrally in the county at the Bastrop Convention & Exhibit Center, 1408 Chestnut from 5:30-10:30 p.m.

Tickets are $100 per person.
